We are not personalizing our aisle runner. It'll be provided by our venue (I think).
Are you getting married in a church? If so, make sure your alowed to have an aisle runner. I've heard that some churches don't allow them for liability reasons (in case someone trips )

Just curious do you think it's over done?

I think its just a personal preference. IF you want to add that little touch and you have the money to do it then go for it.

We aren't allowed to have an aisle runner but if we did, I don't think we'd personalize it.. it just gets stepped on and wrinkled up.. they're expensive too.

It depends on your budget. Personally, being in a garden maybe add some flower petals along the sides of the aisle. I'm getting married outside as well and haven't even questioned an aisle runner. Don't over think it. Personalized toasting flutes is all I want as a keep sake. Some people do the napkins too but again, I think it's a waste of money. Just comes down to personal preference.
