Bourne Mansion

My regret with this review is that it is almost 2 years overdue! This testimony comes from a vendor to a vendor which, while not common, is certainly necessary. Being an active member of the events industry coupled with owning an event planning business for the past 17 years, I have had the pleasure of working in thousands of venues from all over the country and abroad. The Bourne is TRULY one of our favorites to be in!! One wedding in particular that stands out in my mind at The Bourne Mansion was back in October 2015, a spectacular traditional Chinese wedding with more detail (and guests) than most affairs I have had the honor of working on. The wedding couldn’t have gone any better than it had and that was due, in large part, to Steve Melita, the Maitre’D and General Manager in charge that day. As much as I am the event planner working with the couple prior to, assisting them with every detail to bring their visions to fruition, it is the proper execution of all the ideas and hard work by the appropriate person(s) at hand (your Maitre’ D) that make all the difference that day. And as I come up on finalizing details for a wedding I have been working on for almost 2 years scheduled at The Bourne next month, I am put at such ease even a month prior that this wedding is sure to be as close to perfect as possible. This is mainly thanks to the flawless preparation skills of the Banquet Manager Miriam and once again the impeccable hands of Steve Melita that my clients will be in. When most of my brides and grooms and sometimes their parents meet Steve for the first time their comments are the same, he seems extremely organized with the utmost professionalism and takes his role very seriously. And while all of this is 100% accurate, I assure you as a vendor behind the scenes of each event, he is additionally nothing short of a compassionate “teddy bear” who will tirelessly attended to every request and task on hand without hesitation, without question. Something else worth mentioning, I have never witnessed such respect from each staff member for their manager, so eager to please and truly enjoying their work and whom they are working for. This is very hard to come by especially in the hospitality industry. I am looking so forward to another experience with Steve and the staff at The Bourne as well as my future bride and groom!! I don’t even know what to say about this venue except that it’s absolutely breath-taking. Our guests were floored when they walked into the mansion. It went perfectly with our Great Gatsby theme and they were very accommodating to myself as well as the bridal party. Ben was the BM I worked with the whole time and although he didn’t always answer my calls right away or email me back immediately, he did respond to me within a couple of days and never more than that. Our Maitre’d, Steve was amazing. He made sure DH and I had a drink in our hands the entire night, and he even asked our guests to let us be while we ate dinner…thank God, b/c you don’t get to eat much at CH so I was starving! The food was delicious, and they even gave DH and I two entrees and dessert to bring home which we ate the next day. I’m still hearing from friends and family how beautiful this site was and that no one knew it even existed! Highly, highly recommend the Bourne!

We had our wedding at Bourne Mansion on March 12. To say that it was a beautiful experience would not even do it justice!! I knew from the moment I stepped inside the mansion for a bridal showcase that it was the perfect venue for us. The mansion itself is exquisite!! The grounds are spacious and when you arrive, you are taken to another time and place. The team at Bourne Mansion/Lessings made the whole planning process a breeze. We worked primarily with Miriam, who was an absolute pleasure!!! She showed such genuine interest in our wedding. She would give us little pearls of wisdom along the way which we greatly appreciated!! The week before the wedding we met with Steve Melita, the manager and Maitre D. Steve is the man! During that meeting, he put all my worries at ease. He provided us with a timeline for our wedding day, which was extremely helpful. Finally our wedding day arrived, and everything ran smoothly, thanks to Steve and the staff at Bourne Mansion. I can't describe how stunning Bourne Mansion looked that day. I had been there several times before, but to see it all set up was unbelievable, especially the ballroom. Our guests loved being able to roam through the different rooms during cocktail hour. And the food.... the food! The food was absolutely delicious. Steve and the staff made sure our every need was taken care of. He gathered our bridal party together and gave us a run-down of the day, which my husband and I hadn't seen when we were in bridal parties ourselves. I am so grateful for the experience we had at Bourne Mansion. Everyone there went above and beyond to make it a memorable night for us, and they succeeded.
