What is the best way to clean your engagement ring?

Hi Ladies!

Working in a hospital I am constantly washing my hands. My poor ring is losing its luster! Does anyone know any good at-home ideas for cleaning your ring?

I usually just bring it to the jeweler that he got it from. But I've heard that a soft tooth brush works well

I put very warm water, invisible glass and dawn in a glass and I drop my ring in there and let it soak for a good half hour. I then use a baby tooth brush and rinse it. It always comes out so sparkly. But do not use glass cleaner if your ring is not platinum. Invisible glass does not have ammonia in it but some cleaners do and you can't use it on gold.

That's so TRUE!!! I read certain articles sayings its super dangerous for your diamond, then i read others that say it's the best thing for shine. I'm going to try the gentle dish washing soap and see what happens :)

This! I've used a small tooth brush. I had it polished nicely when my FH and I went to go pick my wedding band from the jeweler who designed my engagement ring.

Ive always noticed my ring looks amazing after I wash the dishes (palmolive or dawn is what i normally use). Or I take it to the jeweler to clean it. I lost a stone by using a soft tooth brush to clean my ring once (luckily my jeweler replaced the stone free of charge) but he told me to stay away from the toothbrush cleaning.

Alexandra opened my eyes to this, she said it definitely dulls the sparkle after years of brushing. I just use dish soap and my fingers now.

The one time I cleaned it before our engagement party I just used our regular, old fashioned jewelry cleaner my mom has had for years. I only put a little drop of the solution mixed with water and it came out great!

This! I put a lil windex and hot water in a glass and drop my rings in and viola! Shiny and Squeaky Clean! I dry them with a microfiber cloth.
