Hi all! We are seeing our very first round of venues this weekend and I am SO excited! We've been engaged for over 3 months and only just have the opportunity to start looking now so I'm also living in this sort of surreal feeling like 'am I REALLY going to see places tomorrow?!'
Here's a list of where we are looking. I was wondering if anyone could add to the list of any similar type places in feel and cost? We are ideally looking for a mansion or more unique venue. I think I have a pretty extensive list but I don't want to love somewhere tomorrow and have totally missed out on seeing somewhere I would have loved more!
Westbury Manor Milleridge Cottage The Woodlands Fox Hollow/The Somerley Coindre Hall Glen Cove Mansion Bourne Mansion Old Field Club
Thank you all so much!!!!!!

I'm not sure the price, but my bosses daughter is getting married at the de Seversky Mansion. It's on the NYIT campus and I've heard it's gorgeous

Yes, I looked there too! They're pricey, but at the top end of our budget in the off season. They just couldn't fit us in this weekend =/

I love love love the photos I've seen of it! My only concern is that its higher than our desired minimum but as I told the guy on the phone when I made the appointment... if I fall in love with it, I have time to make new friends to invite! :)

yes! We were actually so torn between lands end and the Somerley- and even though lands end was able to come down in price - we loved the somerley too much!

Inn at New Hyde Park. I looked at all the same places as you have planned and feel in love with the Inn. Good luck!

We saw all of our venues this week and first off -- it is SO much fun looking at places!!! (Although we are regretting turning down the mimosa one of the places offered us). We've narrowed it down a bit for our 2nd-round looks:
The Bourne Mansion The Somerley Coindre Hall The Woodlands Westbury Manor (only if they can lower the minimum number in the Manor room)
Anyone who's chosen any of these as their venues -- can you offer any info that would be useful to know for making a decision? Thanks!!

Fox Hollow has amazing food (again may be biased :)) I've eaten at the restaurant, and attended two weddings there in the past (one in the Somerley). There is a hotel right on location which is great, and they serve hot breakfast the next morning at NC for all registered guests.
The grounds are beautiful! When I went into the somerley we knew we had to have it (even though the other venue we were looking at was much less expensive)

You should check out my venue-- Bridgeview Yacht Club. Beautiful inside and right on the water. Plus from what I've heard about what some of the other venues charge, the prices are really affordable. I've never read a bad review and everyone always says the food is phenomenal!

LOVE the Somerley too! It was our wedding venue and everything there was AMAZING. It was so pretty when everything came together. I just loved the look.
ETA: The bridal attendant and the maitre d were great. Everything ran so smoothly and we didn't run into any issues. We had about 150 at the wedding and I felt that the number was perfect. The food was good (although some people said the shrimp was eh - I had the salmon which was delicious) and cocktail hour was great. I just loved that there was an entirely different room for cocktail hour. Everything was kept really clean. My brother and FSIL love the venue so much that they booked there as well! I can't wait to go to a wedding there and not be a bride.

While it's not a mansion feel, Floral Terrace is definitely unique - if that's what you're going for you should check them out. The place is built inside an old-fashioned playhouse, only does one wedding at a time, and the people were incredibly easy to work with. They made our final cut and only lost out because of distance.

Thanks for the thoughts and info everyone! We loved the Somerley but its just over our budget so we're trying to decide if its worth the money. I love the convenience of the hotel next door and the rooms are beautiful and they throw so much food at your guests so I know you get what you pay for but its still a tad pricey. So glad to hear great reviews from people who have worked with them though!! I'm looking forward to going back to our top choices with my parents.

Out of all the places I've seen The Bourne, NYIT and Carltun were my favorite but they were expensive.
