Paying for what

Paying for what

Not that they have to, but I'm curious if what I've thought for years is correct. Traditionally, who is supposed to pay for what?

I think it really depends. I know in my culture (Filipino), the man pays for everything in regards to wedding expenses, but other cultures, its the woman and her family. I think whatever works for you two as a couple and your circumstances. When we bought our wedding bands, I wasn't working at the time so my husband bought them both for us. But if you were to go the traditional route, typically you would buy each others. As far as rehearsal dinner, I heard its the grooms family that pays. For my bridal shower, my mom and sisters paid for everything, but when I went to my gf's, her best friend threw her shower for her. So its all relative really.

this link shows the breakdown traditionally. The only thing we're doing traditionally is that my FILs are paying for the rehearsal dinner and my parents are paying for my dress everything else is on us with the exception of a few small contributions from grandparents and his parents. My parents put me through college and I'm one of three girls so they would for sure go bankrupt trying to pay for all our weddings too lol

parents of the bride are supposed to pay for wedding. At my wedding my parents and we paid for most of the wedding. The grooms parents paid for the rehearsal dinner, and the breakfast was paid by us(the bride & groom). But I think that it depends on whoever can help and contribute.
