I went with DJ Sharad. I have gone to some of his parties and he's really good. His DJ's can also speak punjabi/hindi if you need that. His MC's are also awesome, they really get the party going. His prices are a little higher than usual, but he is definately willing to work within your budget. Here's his site: www.djusouthasia.com.
Also, for hair and makeup, check thru this thread and a lot of girls have put up great reviews on some vendors. I'm using a small salon that did my engagement party and they are giving me a great rate for me and my girls. But i'm not having her come to the house in the morning, i'm going to her in the afternoon for the reception.
I spoke with DJ Sharad actually and his prices are a little high for me. I need a DJ for two parties, mehndi and reception, and he was quoting me 2K for just one event!

you can always go to House of Dipali in Hicksville and personally order them from india...it takes about 2.5 weeks to get...they turned out fabulous... good luck... theyre anywhere from $2.50- to $10.00 a card
