Marriage license

Marriage license

Hey ladies!

My FH just started a new job in Manhattan and cannot take any days off from work.
We need to obtain our marriage license and the only town hall that has late hours is Islip on Tuesdays until 7:15pm.

This may sound like a stupid question but....Would it matter if we live on Long Island, and get our marriage license through NYC? It may be easier to get it through NYC town clergy because I can take a day off and meet him.

Thoughts? Thanks!!!

Marriage licenses are issued at the state level, so you should be able t go to any town hall in NY to obtain

My officiant also said it's easier to get it in the city! I can't remember if it was because of the hours, or that you have to make an appointment at Islip Town Hall (where I would likely go). She told me we could rush do it in Queens (probably since that's the closest borough to drive to??). Not 100% sure on the details since I wasn't planning on needing to do that.

I don't think the town you live in makes a difference. The license is issued by the state not county. As long as you're a NY resident it shouldn't be an issue. I would call the court to confirm though. We got ours at Queens Court but we were married at church in LI. We went and were there for maybe two hours, give or take. There were some onsite weddings going on so there was line.
