Congrats on your engagement!!! No its not too early to book a venue I got engaged 2 weeks ago too and we started looking at venues and now is the best time to book so you get the date you want! Some places book a year or two in advance. I'm planning on meeting with vendors/going dress shopping after I book my venue that way I know when the date is so they can let me know if they have availability. Also some dresses can take 8 months to make so that gives you lots of time to pick the perfect dress.
Congrats! We booked our venue for Summer of 2016 in spring of 2014 so it's definitely not too early!! Places book up! Then we slowly did one vendor at a time. Photographer, videographer, DJ, florist, dress, then limos.
