First Quote, Need feedback!!

So I contacted Chateau La Mer and for October 28th 2016 which is a Friday night they gave me a quote of 92 pp plus tax. This is all through email so I am sure I can negotiate a bit with the price, but what do you guys think? Is there anything in particular that I should ask them for. Like I said I still have to meet them in person and understand exactly what they offer for that price.

You can try to raise the min number of guests if you feel comfortable doing so to get them to lower the price. Or, go in with a comparable location's quote. You're def right that in person is def the opp to negotiate. Even with simply responding by telling them that exceeded the max budget you were looking to spend flat out. They wont turn you away for asking that's for sure! If they buy into it they can change the price or throw in some extras to make it worth it.

The quote doesn't sound outrageous to me- October is becoming more & more popular for weddings but I think you can probably negotiate a little- no guarantees. Definitely get quotes from comparable halls though to see where they fall. You may have more leverage that way.

That sounds like a great price for a venue on the water. When I was looking, the majority of off-the-water-venues considered Sept/Oct MORE expensive than Jul/Aug. Definitely get some comparables.. Venetian Yacht Club, Riviera. Always try to negotiate, even if you think you're getting an amazing deal. Our venue wouldn't budge on price or minimum, so we got them to add on a few extras (like an ice cream sundae bar) to make us more comfortable with it.

Many places now consider October to be peak a peak month - a Sat in October at my venue (were doing October) is ~$200 PP.

Chateau la mer is great, Ive been to two weddings there. Are you planning on getting married there or at a church? If your getting married at a church and theres going to be a gap, see if they will throw in their hospitality hour (its like a pre-cocktail hour) that'll cut down on the in between time for your guests.

Also their Viennese hour is amazing - i would try and get that thrown in

That's a really great price. Every place I looked at October was $150-$225

Yea I can see that now! I just received a quote from bridgeview for the Friday night 126 per person and this includes all taxes and service fees.

We are not doing a church, very short ceremony at the venue. Neither of us want a long drawn out ceremony.

I think it's a great quote but you can definitely negotiate further. Go look at the place in person and sit with the BM to discuss price just make a lower offer like $80pp and see if they budge whenever we did they would knock off between $5-$10. Goodluck!

Negotiate with them. I ended up getting a great deal from them. Granted I am getting married on a Sunday in may though.
