Church send off

Church send off

My church won't allow birdseed, confetti, sparklers, rice... I think my only 2 choices are bubbles or ribbon wands. What will look best in pictures?

Or should I scrap it and do nothing?

CTK right? lol I feel you.. I'm thinking about scrapping the whole thing. I don't love the bubble idea, but I don't know about the wands either.. THERE'S TOO MANY LITTLE DECISIONS TO MAKE!

Yup...CTK. Did you hear Father Brian is leaving in a few wks? We're hoping he still does our wedding next wk. We love him.

I had my ceremony at St. Bernard's and they didn't allow anything but bubbles and bells. I didn't do anything. I just made sure to include the receiving line (as we had a tight time window) and that was it. Good luck!

NO! We haven't be assigned a priest yet but I guess I better get on it and try and get father joe. My worst fear is having a priest that barely speaks English and is hard to understand.

what about sparklers or balloons?

The reason they won't allow all these things is the liability. Anything you throw (even if it is biodegradable), someone could slip or trip and fall then sue the church. Sparklers are a fire hazard so if someone's hair catches on fire, they could sue the church. This church has more rules than any other I've seen. So frustrating!

I saw a pic of a couple being sent off with paper airplanes. I think those are big enough that they can be picked up without ending up being a safety hazard? Another option, no idea how it would really be organized, is a balloon release. This site had some interesting ideas.

But between bubbles and ribbon wands for photos, I'd go ribbon wands.

Yes, Father Brian is suffering from MS and is leaving :( Idk if they're replacing him....nothing has been announced yet. Father Joe is amazing! Other options are Deacon Lou or Deacon Joe. I would request Father Joe. He has a great personality.

I love the idea of balloons but I worry too much about animals dying and polluting the earth :(
Instead I think I will do biodegradable confetti.

Aww that's sad! FH left a voicemail for Father Joe yesterday. We want a full mass so the deacons aren't an option for us.. although Deacon Joe is so super nice! When he called they said they don't 'assign' priests so far in advance. I'm just worried about who will replace Father Brian!

@CoJo Those ribbons came out great! Did you make them yourself? I may have to ribbons as well, my church doesn't allow anything to be thrown or released, even bubbles!
