Catholic gap
Booked the venue for a sat eve, the church ceremony will most likely be at 3:30, reception cocktail starts at 8! Not sure what to do now. Anyone having a problem with the gap?

I have a big gap also. Our ceremony starts at 1:00 and reception starts at 7:30. After the ceremony we're going to Old Westbury Gardens for pictures and then taking pictures at the reception site. All out time is accounted for.
I also have a big gap. Ceremony is at 1:30 and cocktail hour starts at 7. I am also hopefully going to Old Westbury Gardens for pictures.
We will too! We will be busy with pictures, but I don't know what to do for the guests. If anyone has any ideas, that would be great!
Our wedding Mass was at 2 (started at 2:20ish) and cocktail wasn't until 7. Everyone survived, lol.
Our Mass is at 2 and the cocktail hour starts at 6. I was worried about it first but now I don't care. It's more important to us that we get our photos and are able to relax a little bit (and eat lol) before the reception starts.
I say take advantage of the gap for your pictures. This way you'll enjoy cocktail hour with your guests or use that time to change (if you're doing that). My ceremony is at 3pm and cocktail hour begins at 6:30. My photographer is planning on hussling like hell to get us back for at least part of cocktail hour lol.
Ok I feel better now! I know we can't make everyone happy and that a lot of the guests don't go to the church anyways! Feeling relieved, Thx everyone!
Our ceremony at church is 3pm and our cocktail hour starts at 6:30, so not a HUGE gap but there still will be one. Obviously we'll be busy taking pictures but all of our guests either live less than 20 minutes from our church & venue or will be staying at a hotel so I'm sure they will all find a way to occupy themselves. I know for myself when I've gone to weddings with a large gap I usually dress more casually for church and then spend the gap getting ready for the reception!
