Addressing Save the Dates

Addressing Save the Dates

I'm sending out save the dates and I'm having a hard time addressing some of these envelopes!

What I'm having the toughest time with is there are a few family members that I'm not sure if I am inviting their kids yet. They are my dad's cousins kids and they're all under 6 years old. Should I address it to just the adults and then decide later on if I'm inviting the kids or just put it on the envelope?

And second - my fiance's family is a bit complicated...his cousin got married recently and all of the cousins that were in high school were allowed to bring dates, I don't want to allow them to bring dates because chances are, they won't be together that long so how do I make that clear? Do I just do The Smith Family? And then also in this case, my fiance's Uncle is in a relationship and then the kids are invited too...so I do John Smith & Guest + Family? lol or should I just do The Smith Family and worry about all of that when I send the invites?

Sorry if that's confusing...I'm just having such a tough time figuring it out!

Thanks

Addressing Save the Dates

Send the save the dates to the household who have high school kids(smith family) the family with smaller children (Mr&Mrs smith) you can decide to add the children at the time of the invite. The etiquette is that you can't send someone the save the date and not invite them to the wedding but if they are 12 years old I don't think that rule really applies lol

I was stressing on how to address my save the dates too. I agree, go simple on your save the dates and be more specific on the invite.

For families, I'm just putting 'The Smith Family' but the kids are young and invited.

I read up a lot on this issue, and it's the invites where you get really specific. If you're going to have an inner envelope, then you're supposed to put down the name of everyone invited on the inner envelope with just 'Mr and Mrs' on the outer (stamped) envelope.

Of course, I'm not doing inner envelopes, so I'm being a rebel and just going with 'The Smith Family' on the outer envelope :)

You could ask your parents to have a conversation with the parents and let them know who's invited and who's not (BF's/GF's) or you can address the outer envelope with everyone who's invited.

Good luck!

Thanks so much - that's what I was thinking of doing. I feel like that's the easiest. And I agree - I don't think that rule applies to kids haha they don't know the difference

Thanks! That's what I thought - the invites are more specific than the save the dates.

I think I might tell my fiancé's father to have a conversation with the parents of the high school kids and let them know that significant others aren't invited either - because who knows if they'll still be together lol.

Thanks so much!

For my STD's I did everyone I knew would be 100% invited to the wedding. We gave everyone that was 18 or older a guest for the wedding but on the STD I only did the person unless they were in a relationship. I didn't invite any children though.
