HELP for DH PLEASE!
Frank = DH
ok, so frank's manager/boss at work has been trying to speak to him for like 3 weeks, but she is basically scared and keeps telling him she has to talk to him, but she never does. frank goes in there every so often during the week to say hi, you wanted to talk to me and she is like yeah i know... and then she doesn't ask him again for another week.
now this all stems from the fact that she is supposed to dispatch the work every other saturday and this other guy, sal, does it the saturdays she is not there. however, she doesn't want to work on saturday and since she is the head manager she never had to because she had another guy do it for her. however, they recently fired this guy who was doing the work for her so now she has to do it. but she still doesn't want to, so for the past few weeks she has had odd people fill in for her and do it.
now she wants frank to work every other saturday. when he has to work on sturday, he will get monday off. they want to offer him another $5K a year and if he has time, he can still do his regular job when he has to dispatch to make more money during the day (which is hard to do because you can't really do both at the same time)
frank told her he has to think about it and will get back to her by the end of today. personally, i think $5K extra a year is not enought to give up every other saturday a month and i told him to ask for more money (which was the first thing he said to her anyway, he told her he was making over $100K at honda (Frank is a tech at a dealership in NYC and he used to work for Honda, but they closed suddenly in Nov. 2009 and everyone had to scramble to find new jobs. He now works at Acura after they asked him to come work for him - Frank does not care for this company but is staying because of the way the economy is right now)and that when he started here, he took a pay cut and he wants to get back to that, so that extra $5K a year wouldn't bring him up to what he was making before. I told him to ask for an increase in his hourly pay and to ask for at least another $20K a year. That way, even if they don't give him the $20K, they might give him the 15 or 10K - that's even if he wants to do it because he HATES working on saturdays and i don't blame him.
what do you think? would you take what they are offering? would you just continue doing what your doing? either way, he will still have a job and no one will nag him about not doing it (i don't think
