Do You Hear What I Hear: Acoustic Music for Your Fete
April 24, 2019
Barn weddings, Tent Weddings and Industrial Fetes are all the rage these days….as is local Long Island farm to table foods, herb arrangements in lieu of flowers (as bouquets) and other rustic but regal ideas. And, when it comes to music, modern soon to be weds are looking to hire local talent from “the neighborhood”. Consider connecting with a bar band or someone who know who sings (even as a hobby). Ask music schools in your community about musical ensembles, pianists, violists, etc that you can likely hire at a fraction of the price. Just remember to inform your wedding venue, if you aren’t working with a planner and make sure your entertainers also know well in advance so they can book, practice and plan.
It’s also imperative that your venue has the proper acoustics and space for your hired talent…especially if you are opting for an outdoor event. Plus, you’ll need to make sure whomever you hire are not only dressed for the occasion but also for the location.
Another idea…. having a marching band or an accordionist accompany you as you walk down the aisle after you’ve been decreed husband and wife.
When it comes to local and unique talent…your options are essentially endless…just remember to make sure you do your due diligence to make sure that your musicians can be both seen and heard and that their sound is not muffled or too loud, especially for your invited crowd.
