Big Dreams…Small Budget: How to Host a Haute Long Island Wedding While Counting Costs

Every couple wants to treat their guests to “The Wedding of the Century” and Long Island is known for its lavish events and affairs. From our many extravagant catering halls to our abundance of scenic yet majestic outdoor venues, we are the hotspot for memorable trendy and traditional weddings.
But, regardless of our over the top reputation, we pride ourselves on catering to frugal brides and grooms who want to dazzle on a dime.
1. Set the Mood with Recycled Goods: Think about your theme and help create it with things you pick up at flea markets, garage sales and even from your own home, or the homes of friends and family. Consider borrowing tablecloths, throw pillows, maybe even fine china that will help create the ambiance you are looking for. Not only is this a great way to save but it can also serve as your something old and/or your something borrowed.
2. Opt For Items That Can Do Double Duty: Consider converting your bridesmaid’s bouquets into your centerpieces. How about bringing floral arrangements from the church to your catering hall…or how about using your ceremony backdrop as the accent for behind your cake table?
3. Add Ambiance with Candlelight: Consider elevating the mood with mood music and candle light. Just remember It’s an accent so don’t overdo it.
4. Get Creative with Your Centerpieces: Consider DIY centerpieces that can help save you beaucoup bucks. Use plenty of natural (nature-inspired) outdoor elements including plenty of greenery to enhance the mood and add ambiance.
5. Rent Rather Than Buy: Looking for bargain basement prices consider renting everything from your dress and his tux and everything in between. Work with local vendors and consignment shops you may be more willing to cut you a deal.
6. Add Accent Pieces: Just because you want to go big doesn’t mean you have to go broke. Think about adding a few (select and unique) big and bold accent pieces that will be the center of attention at your celebration…and make them the focal point of your festivities.
